About us

Kiln Cambridge is an open-access members’ ceramics studio providing an opportunity for development for members and a range of classes for all. Set up by a group of artists to help make the arts more accessible to more people in an affordable way, our vision is to create a place where friendships and ideas flourish in a supportive artists' community.


New 8-week courses

The next 8-week courses start from 21st August and cover hand-building techniques and wheel-throwing.

Classes are held on a Wednesday evening, Thursday morning and Friday evening.



There are a range of membership options, ranging from pay-as-you-go, to annual membership. Membership includes anytime access during our opening hours, up to 15 hours a week.


Figurative Sculpture in Clay

- An Introduction

Date: July 22nd 10am- 5pm

This one-day, introductory course will give students an exciting opportunity to learn how to construct a figurative ceramic sculpture from a live model.


Making Larger Vessels & forms from porcelain wheel-thrown Components with Jo Davies

This workshop will use techniques to guide you on wheel-throwing forms in porcelain that are larger than the maximum weight of clay you can throw in one go.

Date : 8th + 9th September 2019 (2 day workshop)

Level : intermediate

Cost : £240 for two days non-members, £216 for members



Kiln Cambridge occupies a large single-floor, high-ceilinged studio space. This communal work space, with lots of natural light, contains high quality, hand-made, easy-to-clean work benches, twelve top of the range throwing wheels, a slab roller, and an extruder. The studio also boasts three kilns with high quality extraction systems.
